Albert Rivera Menudo Run 2024 Registration Is Open!

About Us

The National Latino Peace Officers Association San Gabriel Valley Chapter has been in existence for over 35 years. The SGV Chapter is historically known for their Annual Menudo Run, which takes place every August.

The Menudo Run begins at 8AM, August 24, 2024.

This will be the 41st year hosting this run.In 2009, the Menudo Run was renamed to The Al Rivera Menudo Run, in memory of one of their long time member and past President, Al Rivera. Al was instrumental in the SGV Chapter and was very committed to the Menudo Run.

The SGV chapter has been busy in sponsoring fundraising events to assist with the Scholarship Fund and many other events which contribute to the community.

In 2020, the Chapter awarded $10,000.00 in scholarships to first year college students. Thank you for your support of our organization.

For those of you who attended our Annual Al Rivera Menudo Run we are sure you remember Evelyn Tapia. She was a familiar face and long time runner. It is with a very heavy heart to report she passed away due to health complications. She was 83 years young and will be missed.

We felt it was appropriate to share this "Runner's Prayer" in her memory.

"Run by my side; live in my heartbeat;
give strength to my steps.
As the cold surrounds, as the wind pushes me,
I know you surround me.
As the sun warms me, as the rain cleanses me,
I know you are touching me, challenging me, loving me.
And so I give you this run.
Thank you for matching my stride.
